We made a financial contribution to rebuild an earthquake-damaged secondary school in a very remote area. This was driven by our patron, Barbara Hickson and overseen by Plan International Australia. The target was reached and rebuilding commenced.
We contributed towards the purchase of land for a new health post / small hospital in Namtar. The Nepalese government have pledged to build the new hospital once the target has been achieved.
We launched a school mealtime project, providing a midday meal for all the students, their teachers and all the support workers in a mountain top school for children belonging to marginalised, low caste families. Parents were asked to contribute a small amount towards their child’s meal. This encouraged attendance, and after twelve months showed an improvement in overall concentration and attainment.
