School Day Meal Project

This highly successful project was set up in September 2017  to provide a midday meal to 59 of some of the the poorest and most marginalized groups of children. These children often walk at least one hour each way to school. Before this project started, many had nothing to eat between leaving home around 8am and returning around 5pm.

Not only has this project improved the nutritional status of the children, it has also improved school attendance and involved the local community in training for the provision of food.

Feedback from parents, teachers and children has been universally positive.

This pilot project, along with similar ones throughout Nepal demonstrated to the government the importance and significant benefits that a nutritious meal can have. Now school children in forty-four of the seventy- five districts in Nepal are able to access a hot midday meal for free. NEPAL-ease is no longer required to contribute.
